The dragons after which the Drakenstein mountains were named were here long before humans…. They were known for their fastidious tastes in spirits, and the Upland Drakenwijn 25 years fits their bill perfectly. Deep amber in colour from the long ageing in small French oak casks (no caramel added to enhance this!), and a wonderfully complex nose of dried cling peaches, apricots, hazelnuts, almonds, vanilla, violets and spice entice the senses to try the taste. Here the palate lingers with smooth deliciousness confirming the aromas with great depth of flavours, and providing a long dry finish typical of the XO cognacs.
